30 Day Drawing Challenge: Days 1-5

Hello,

So I decided to take up the 30 Day Drawing Challenge that I mentioned in my last post.
The first challenge is for the artist to draw his/herself, so this is what I came up with while I was bored in my Psychology class.

So I'm not really happy with this first production because it's been drawn on the lined notebook paper, and I shaped my face kind of weird. Also, my eyes are a little narrow, so I look a little Asian, and my eyebrows are really high, like I was super surprised to find myself drawn on this paper.

As a bonus, those clothes are the exact outfit that I was wearing today! I was feeling really uncreative, so I didn't want to think up another one of my outfits, so I just drew the one I had on at the moment, even though I think the babydoll style makes me look a little chubby in the tummy.

So that's my drawing for today, January 31st, 2012.

Day Two: My Favorite Animal

I have loved horses pretty much my entire life. I have no idea where it started, or why, but they have been as much a part of my life as my favorite Disney movies. My bedroom is covered in horse puzzles glued together and framed, I've framed some of my paint-by-numbers (remember those?) of horses and put them up on my walls, I have too many pony plushies than I can fit on my bed at one time, and even my wallpaper is horse-themed.

When I was eight or nine my mom gave me a month's worth of horseback riding lessons and you would have thought she'd bought me the damn pony I was so excited! I kept going to these lessons every week until I was fourteen, when I decided I was "too cool" for public school and "just haaad" to go to private school. So we couldn't afford the lessons anymore, and it broke my heart, but I still love horses, and I hope to get back to riding again soon.

So anyway, I had a hard time with this drawing because every time I started drawing the body, the head looked too small, so I'd fix the head, then the leg would be too scrawny, and once I'd fixed that, SOMEHOW the head would be all wrong again! So this was the final product, and I'm decently happy with it, I guess. I haven't had much practice drawing them in a while (all I did as a kid was draw these things -serious, I could paper a whole house in all of the horse pictures I have from when I was little), so this didn't come out as FANTASTIC as I hoped it would. I just wish my scanner had been working, so I could have uploaded a better quality version of it.
Oh well.

Day Three: My Favorite Food

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!
I have always loved ice cream, and even when I worked at Cold Stone Creamery and got so freaking sick of smelling and scooping and mixing ice cream everyday, I still enjoyed going home with a bowl of Love It sized vanilla with chopped up cookie dough bits!
My current most favorite dessert (of my own making, not from any particular restaurant or anything) is a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream on top.

I couldn't think of any "real" food to put down as "my favorite" and I just kept going back to desserts, so that's what I finally decided to go with.
This drawing is okay, in my world, because I have never been very good at drawing foods and like daily inanimate objects and such. Incase the colors are weird or whatever, it's vanilla ice cream, with chocolate syrup, whipped cream and a cherry on top in a cute little glass bowl/cup thing.

Day Four: My Favorite Place

My favorite place in the world is some place warm, where I can completely forget about work and stress and any kind of issue that I am dealing with that day. Since Paradise has yet to be found, I picked the beach. I wish my beaches looked this tropical and beautiful, but I just have to work with what I get.

I originally started drawing the Disney Cinderella Castle, but it turned out the paper that I'm drawing these wasn't going to fit it to the proportions I was drawing on, and it's technically past "day four" so I just went with my second choice of a nameless beach because, as wonderful and amazing as DisneyWorld is, I can't always get there, so the beach on a sunny day is a fabulous second choice. I finally figured out my scanner, but my drawing pad is too small to fit right, so I might have to revert to using my precious computer paper for these drawings (I'll use both sides, don't worry -I love trees).
This picture is kind of rushed, but I think it came out all right. I like the way all of the blues in the ocean mix together like they do in the real sea.

Day Five [coming soon]

Thanks for reading!
